Thinking of starting online business

I have this passion for reading books. I realized that I want to turn that passion into my career. I want my own business as well. I love the idea of starting a bookstore, but starting an actual storefront can get very pricey. So, I have been thinking about creating a virtual bookstore like Amazon, but I don't know much about how e-commerce works. Would something like this even be profitable? I have no idea.
